First off... Everything is fine.
We took a little trip to the hospital on Saturday because I had a random episode of bleeding that included (tmi) a pretty large clot. It was brief and the bleeding stopped immediately but we wanted to get everything checked out just to be safe.
The hospital visit included monitoring the baby's heart rate, responsiveness, an ultrasound (my 8th one at this point) and a nice internal exam to be sure I was not dilating. All looked great and the doctor really did not have any explanation for the blood and clot. I do prefer to have answers but he said that there looked as though there is no cause for concern. We were told to come back if we wanted or needed to at any time.
So, now that that part is over, here is how the rest of the pregnancy is going. The baby is very active. Ray is amazed by our little one's strength and is often asking if all the movement hurts me. It's not the most comfortable feeling when he or she stretches and kicks but I like how reassuring it is and pretty hard to miss. A few others have felt the baby's thumps and are falling in love with this active babe.
I am definitely feeling the stretch now and have been lotioning non-stop. I still feel good and have lucked out with very little back pain or other discomforts. It is hard to imagine how much more I have left to grow but I fully except any and all pain knowing that it is more than worth it. I've officially nick named the baby Sparky after a solid to weeks of kicking in my cervix that sends the most delightful shock up my body ;) Thankfully bubs has finally re-positioned and though there is more pressure on my bladder, I am happy for the relief from those little feet down there.
Since the scare we had Ray has been in a bit of a panic mode because he is realizing that we do not have anything ready. He is currently fixated on packing a hospital bag and is looking forward to the baby shower so he can prep the nursery. He has been great about allowing me to take it easy and has been cleaning and organizing every weekend. I certainly look forward to the day that I can actually be a functioning person because this being cautious thing is getting tiresome in its own way.
My next mental milestone is our baby shower just two weeks away! We will finally find out Sparky's gender and will get to see many family and friends whom we have been missing.
